Panels may have grooves that taper downwards and inwards to an angle, or a v-shape. Originally, panels had V-grooves at points in the panel where different pieces of wood joined together, perhaps most obviously with a wooden fence, but grooves may created in a single piece of wood to create the look of V-groove panels.
