A pie-cut shelf is most commonly seen in lazy susan trays, which are often located inside corner base cabinets. It gets its name from its shape, which resembles a pie that has had a portion cut out. This design makes it possible for the cabinet door to rest inside the angle of this “pie cut” when it is closed.
