Non-porous woods, which are softwoods, do not have as many vessels as other types of woods. Vessels are also known as pores, and they serve to conduct sap within the tree. Softwoods have a different method for transporting sap since they don’t have vessels. Non-porous wood will take adhesive better than their porous counterparts.
