Lipped

The lipped overlay style for cabinetry is also known as “3/8 offset” or “partial inset” style. It is called “lipped” because the doors and drawers have edges, or lips, that rest over the face frame of the cabinet. Since the doors and drawers are so close to the face frame, it is not possible to open them just by using the fingers and it is necessary to use handles, pulls, or knobs.
