The G-shaped kitchen adds one more side to the U-shaped kitchen configuration. A U-shaped kitchen has two long sides joined by a shorter one in the middle, and because of the three sides, it is especially well-suited to accommodating the kitchen work triangle, which has at its separate three points the refrigerator, stove, and sink. In the G-shaped kitchen, an extra wall, which can consist of a kitchen island or cabinet, provides additional storage and possibly workspace.
