A drop-in sink is also called a top-mount or overmount sink and is the most common type of sink. It has a lip that sits higher and over a portion of the countertop. The counter will have a cut-out designed specifically for such a sink, and the lip edge stabilizes the sink. Generally, drop-in sinks are easier to install than drop-in sinks and tend to be less expensive.
